ADMINISTRATION

Ballot Issue 1A Update

Since 2014, Ballot Issue 1A has helped make improvements to Estes Park streets, facilities, trails, and emergency response. The one percent additional sales tax has raised about $9.1M so far and will be in effect until 2024.

SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER

The Town provides the school district with an on-campus School Resource Officer (SRO). The SRO works with the students and staff of the Estes Park Elementary, Middle and High schools to provide a safe learning environment and faster response to emergencies.

DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

New system is currently being implemented to:

  • Electronically manage all Town records
  • Improve Town processes
  • Provide public access to records and information in real time

FLOOD RECOVERY

In 2017, the Town and partners completed flood recovery on Fish Creek, including upgraded utilities, road and trail.

#WAPITIWIFI

To increase access to Town information, free Wi-Fi is now offered in Bond Park, Town Hall, Visitor Center, Museum and Events Complex.

CENTENNIAL LEGACY PROJECT

The community came together to mark its Centennial with a Legacy Project at the Knoll-Willows Open Space, making significant improvements and renaming it Centennial Open Space at Knoll-Willows.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

DOWNTOWN PLAN

After a two-year public process, the Downtown Plan was adopted, outlining a vision for downtown Estes Park in 2025 and serving as a blueprint for future projects. Learn more at estes.org/downtownplan

ELECTRONIC BILLING

The department is in the process of implementing electronic billing along with an online utility payment and inquiry portal, which is expected to go live in 2018.

AWARDS & GIVING BACK

GIVING BACK

  • Staff will give over $5,000 to local nonprofits through United Way payroll deductions in 2018.

  • The Town is a National Philanthropy Day sponsor.
     
  • The staff Helping Hands committee produces an annual Christmas ornament to support $5,000 in scholarships for high school seniors and utility bill assistance for families in need.
     
  • EPPD Auxiliary’s Blue Santa program assisted 99 people last year.
     
  • Supported Estes Valley Library, Community Garden, Veterans Monument Park, Weed Roundups, and Master Gardeners.
     
  • Gave $9,200 in food tax refunds back to low-income residents.
